We provide space, aerospace and ground-based Lidar systems
One of our primary customers is the space industry and we have worked on all four of ESA’s Earth Observation Lidar Programmes in the last 4 years, listed below:
- AEOLUS-ADM (Atmospheric Dynamics Mission)
- WALES (Water Vapour LIDAR Experiment in Space)
- EarthCARE (Clouds, Aerosols & Radiation Explorer)
- FACTS (Future Atmospheric Carbon Dioxide Testing From Space)
- Mesosphere Lidar Mission – a Study for ESA
- Green-Wake – EU contract for mitigation of Wind-Shear, CAT and Wake-Vortex Hazards
We have supplied a number of ground based Lidar systems globally, including a wind Lidar system for NICT, Japan at Poker Flats rocket range, Alaska, a Doppler wind Lidar for the Alomar observatory, Norway and a Rayleigh Lidar system for Utah University.
Aerospace contracts range from AWIATOR, developing a short-range clear air turbulence (CAT) monitor with EADS and FLYSAFE, FLYSAFE and Green-Wake are European Union-funded Projects aimed at improving air safety.
Lidar Technologies is currently developing further its instrumentation for ground based applications. A Mobile Doppler Wind Lidar for the wind farm industry and other applications, such as airports. A small, portable, cost-competitive Lidar system also been developed to monitor pollution, for example near large and extended industrial and chemical sites.
We also help run a Lidar Special Interest Group under the DTI sponsored Sensors Knowledge Transfer Network to promote the technique and bring together the supply chain to enhance innovation in this area.
